Toranet Partner with Consentry

With one eye permanently on the market, Toranet are constantly reviewing their product range and keeping abreast of current technology.  It is the intention that Toranet remain the hub for technical expertise and knowledge, and awareness of the solutions entering the market fall under this commitment.  When Consentry Networks announced their proposal of ‘Intelligent Switching’ for integrated user and application control, Toranet were only too happy to investigate further.

‘Network Access Control’ can not be considered as new technology, however the fresh approach that Consentry brought gave reason to delve further.  Corporate infrastructures in modern times contain vast quantities of data that require differing levels of access for employees.  Traditionally this had been taken care of by assigning VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) and utilising ACL (Access Control Lists), though as administrators roles are expanding this is becoming difficult to manage.  The nature of these methods is fast becoming too crude for the dynamic workplace, requiring huge resources to continually configure, while not being flexible enough to achieve desired outcomes.  Consentry provide a simple alternative to this problem by allowing policies to be applied dynamically to the users controlling access to the resources.

However, what differentiates the Consentry NAC solution is the combined logging capabilities it possesses and the transparent vision of the network that comes with this feature.  By recording all the data movement on the network, and providing visibility of status, posture and behaviour of all users, Network Managers are able to collate valuable data and improve the management.  Reports can be generated from historical data detailing all aspects of who, where, what and when, leaving no area of the network invisible anymore.  This data ensures networks can be run efficiently and maintains high productivity amongst the workforce.

The combination of NAC and logging capabilities make Consentry a valuable addition to Toranet’s armoury.  Toranet have already proved high pedigree in their design and implementation of secure network architecture from Remote Access, Access Control and Secure Switching Infrastructure, so it made sense that they represent a solution which governs the internal aspects of data security.  The addition of Consentry to the portfolio will further improve the service Toranet are able to deliver to their clients, and we look forward to further developing our reputation within the data security market.
