In 2014 – Zebra Technologies completed its acquisition of Motorola Solutions Enterprise Business. A large majority of this business was formerly Symbol Technologies, which Motorola, Inc. acquired in 2007. Symbol Technologies specialised in barcode scanners, mobile computers, RFID systems and Wireless LAN infrastructure. Zebra continues to provide Mobile computers, scanners and RFID Systems, while the Wireless LAN products were acquired by Extreme Networks in 2016.

In 2016 there was an announcement to confirm that Extreme Networks would be acquiring the Wireless LAN business from Zebra Technologies.
The acquisition applied only to Zebra’s WLAN portfolio of access points, controllers, software, advanced security (AirDefense & WIPS) and the WiNG Operating System, as well as support and managed services for WLAN products.
There is no change in Zebra’s WLAN support policy or agreed-upon service levels to customers as a result of this transaction. Existing support agreements will be honoured through their contract term. Upon expiration, equivalent ExtremeWorks service offerings will be made available to ensure continuity in support coverage.

In 2016 Broadcom announced its intended acquisition of Brocade Communications Systems. In February 2017 ARRIS announced their intention to acquire Ruckus Wireless—pending the sale of parent company Brocade to Broadcom. Brocade Communications Systems Inc. merged Ruckus Wireless and ICX product lines and in December 2017 Arris completed its acquisition of the Ruckus Wireless and the ICX switch business from Broadcom Limited.

In 2016 Broadcom announced its intended acquisition of Brocade Communications Systems. In October 2017 Extreme completed the acquisition of Brocade’s data centre network business. Extreme acquired all of the assets of Brocade’s recently refreshed high-end data centre networking business including data centre switching (VDX) and routing (MLX), as well as a new converged switching/routing product line (SLX), in addition to world-class automation and network application visibility software.
